Meeting an Author and Exciting News

My family have been reading Douglas Bond's books for a decade or so but just today, my husband and I had the opportunity to meet him.

Douglas Bond is a Christian and the author of several books both for adults and children. We have owned Mr Pipes and the British Hymn Makers and the Duncan's War series for a while but more recently added Hostage Lands which is the story of a boy who lives on Hadrian's Wall and his accidental fall into practical archaeology. I have enjoyed The Poetic Wonder of Isaac Watts.

We met Mr Bond, for coffee and a chat, just before he starts a hymn writer tour of England. It is always good to meet Christians from other parts of the world and talk about the joys and challenges that are faced elsewhere. Douglas Bond is keen to meet Christians in the places to which he travels and has kindly offered to run a writing workshop and book signing, in the Spring, for our home education group and others. I hope to update once a date is finalised.

Yes, and the book I'm holding is the very latest book by Douglas Bond, War in the Wasteland which is historical fiction about the First World War and C.S. Lewis. I have a bit of time to start this book tomorrow which is exciting and of course, the book is timely arriving on the day of the centenary of the Battle of the Somme. For those of you in the UK, War in the Wasteland is available from Ossett Christian Bookshop. If you contact them fast, they may be able to provide a signed copy-details in the link.
