5-a-Day books-an owl theme

I didn't post about 5-a-Day books last week although we did a version which really ended up being 3-a-Day plus other favourites!
This week our Five in a Row book is
Owl Moon by Jane Yoder.

This isn't particularly seasonal as we aren't in the depths of winter, as in the book but we recently saw owls at a local event so it seemed a good moment to "row" this fascinating book.
Owl babies by Martin Waddell goes well with this and is loved by the children with its simple text and pictures.

The owl who was afraid of the dark by Jill Tomlinson also fits the theme. The book we are using is an abridged version with illustrations by Paul Howard. I'm not a great fan of abridged versions but this is good even though it omits the description of Plop's knees as "knobbly".

The selfish crocodile by Faustin Charles and Michael Terry is not on the owl theme but is one of Mr Exuberance's favourites at present.

Dear Bear by Joanna Harrison is about a girl who was afraid of the bear under the stairs. A sweet book with a happy conclusion which we acquired in a second hand sale recently.
5 a day books
I've linked to 5-a-Day at the Imagination Tree-looking forward to seeing what others are reading.
